Fire Damages Bedroom, Firemen Rescue Cat

WARSAW — A fire at 4235 N. Westerner Winds Drive, Warsaw, damaged a bedroom and caused smoke damage throughout the home this evening, Saturday, Feb. 26. A cat inside the home was rescued and appeared to have suffered from smoke inhalation and a few burns. It is believed the cat would survive.

Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Department was notified at 8:28 p.m. of a structure fire, with flames coming from a bedroom. Warsaw/Wayne Fire Territory was called for a tanker assist a short time later.

According to Leesburg/Plain Township Fire Chief Scott Anderson, everyone was out of the home, when the fire was reported. The fire was contained to a bedroom at the south end of the home, however smoke spread throughout the home.

The occupants of the home declined Red Cross assistance as they would be staying with family/friends.

According to Beacon mapping system, the home in North Winds subdivision is owned by Daniel C. Crace.
