Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory is asking the public to make a small investment for a potentially life-saving measure.
Jeremy Williams, public education coordinator for WWFT, says the fire department for several years has been making reflective address signs, but it’s still a service many residents are not yet aware of. The signs are also something that can save lives when minutes and even seconds matter.
The reflective signs are a large green metal panel bearing while address numerics. The signs are meant to be affixed to mailboxes in front of houses to give police, fire and emergency medical services an easy way to find locations of emergencies. Signs may also be installed other ways, for example on poles or in yards where mail service is not provided. The signs are pre-drilled and easy to install.

Brent Fifer of Warsaw Fire Department holds reflective signs that city and county residents are encouraged to get for their homes.
Williams notes the department charges only $15 for each sign, which only covers the cost of the materials. “We only charge enough to cover our expenses so this is not a money making project,” he assures.
The reflective signs are of great importance to emergency responders when attempting to locate victims of emergencies that are not always visible.
City and county residents are encouraged to order a sign and may do so by clicking on the form and printing it out. Fill out the necessary information and mail to the Warsaw Volunteer Fire Department along with your check or money order.
